[edit] Is there any laws regarding Privacy?
I'm wondering exactly what the heck this means If Ms. Wahlgren has a problem with me publishing her biography she should tell me then. I am not publishing her Telephone Number or where she lives. I am simply publishing Biographical information.--Jack Cox 01:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, this is interesting. She says she doesn't want her birthdate here, but I'm not sure that's a request we need to (or even should) follow. With all due respect to her wishes, I think the date should be reinstated. It's encyclopedic, and if we start following this kind of request, we're going to have to delete J.D. Salinger, etc. Unless anyone posts a reasonable objection, I'm going to put it back. -Elmer Clark 04:23, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Well I honestly don't know this is a request by her and I'm a fan of hers very much and if I hurt her I didn't mean it, I love her as an actress but I think if that's what she wants then unfortunately, as much as I love information I won't publish her birthday. Besides, I do not want her to get angry over this as I might meet her at a future con.--Jack Cox 04:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've brought this up at the help desk here. -Elmer Clark 05:02, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

- Ok, the issue has been settled there. Wikipedia policy in this kind of situation is to include the year but not the exact date, and I have done accordingly. -Elmer Clark 05:19, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

- In the case of actors and actresses trying to make a name, career, or even living for themselves, having their age revealed can be limiting their careers. Producers and directors may claim to practice blind casting, but lets face it, as soon as they know someones actual age, they start restricting themselves. A lot of actors would prefer their ages not be revealed because of the reprecussions, and I'm sure Kari is just one of those. Sure, people should be able to know the "Encyclopedic facts" but is it REALLY that important? If you're a fan of someone, shouldn't your ultimate goal as his or her fan be their success as an actor or actress? If that's not reasonable, I don't know what is. -J. 9/13/06 8:23pm EST

- If you object to the current policy, I'd suggest you say something on the talk page of Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons. -Elmer Clark 00:50, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

- I shall, tomorrow... I'm supposing I need to register to do that and I'm just a smidge too busy tonight for that, but I will definitely bring it up, because I think that's a reasonable objection. -J. 9/13/06 9:30pm EST
