From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Karlheinz Pflipsen (b. October 31, 1970 in Mönchengladbach) is a retired German soccer player.
Pflipsen was a playmaker and played the first decade of his career at his home club Borussia Mönchengladbach alongside stars like Martin Dahlin and Stefan Effenberg, winning the German Cup in 1995.
Pflipsen was signed by Panathinaikos in 1999-2000 season and his talent became evident from the very beginning. Unfortunately, in a Uefa Champions League match against Deportivo La Coruna, Pflipsen sustained a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee (he had the same injury on his right) and missed the chance to have a fulfilling career for Panathinaikos. After recovering from his injury, he returned to Germany for TSV 1860 Munich and Alemannia Aachen.
He has collected one cap for Germany in 13 September 1993 against USA [Germany won 4-3].
