[edit] Early years

Stefanovic graduated from the Queensland University for Technology with a degree in journalism in 1994 and began working for WIN Television in Rockhampton and Cairns as a cadet reporter.[2] In 1996 he took up a position with TVNZ as a reporter for One Network News. In 1998 Stefanovic returned to Australia with a job reporting and reading for Ten News in Brisbane. This resulted in Stefanovic being appointed as a fill-in news reader for Ron Wilson in Sydney.

[edit] Nine Network

In 2000, he moved to Channel Nine as a reporter and back-up presenter with National Nine News. He received a Queensland Media Award for Best News Coverage for his report on the Childers backpacker hostel fire in 2000. Stefanovic's exclusive reports on the NSW bushfires from Sussex Inlet in January 2002 led to his appointment to Nine's Sydney newsroom. He was involved in Nine's coverage of the Canberra bushfires, where 400 homes and four lives were lost in January 2003. In 2003, he was posted to Los Angeles as one of the Nine Network's US correspondents. In 2006 Stefanovic participated in the Nine Network reality television show Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice. He eventually made it to the Grand Final of the show but was beaten by Jake Wall on a viewer SMS and phone poll. Stefanovic replaced long running Today host Steve Liebmann in 2005 and currently co-hosts the program with Lisa Wilkinson. Stefanovic is also the fill-in host on A Current Affair if Tracy Grimshaw is absent. Currently, along with his hosting role at Today he and network colleague Leila McKinnon will host a revamped version of Australia's Most Wanted called Hunted. The program is in production now and will air in the second half 2008 on Channel Nine.
