Karen I. Chambers was born in Connecticut, 1964, a divorced mother of two living in the town of Fort Covington. At the age of 42, on June 9, 2006, she was arrested for being involved in a murder plot against her former father-in-law, Thomas Bartlett, age 70, who currently resides in Bellingham.

Karen Chambers has two children, Damien Chambers and Mandy Chambers. She had divorced her husband, Eric Chambers.

A hit-man was purportedly offered $10,000 by Chambers to kill her former father-in-law. The man to be hired tipped off the police, leading to her arrest.

Chambers was told by her former father-in-law that he had put her in his will. She claims that she needed the money from Thomas Bartlett's will in order to begin a Day Care center.
