The Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (Karakalpak ASSR; Karakalpak: Қарақалпақстан АССР; Uzbek: Қорақалпоғистон АССР; Russian: Каракалпакская АССР) was an autonomous republic of the Soviet Union. Until 1932-07-20 it was the Karakalpak Autonomous Oblast. On 1936-12-05 it was joined to Uzbek SSR. It was the only ASSR in Soviet Central Asia
Today it corresponds to the theoretically autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan within Uzbekistan.
