The section that refers to "Shopping" seems more like an advertisement for a site than something information. I believe it should be removed or replaced with something more informative - IE, a listing of shopping centers.

You have to update your information.Kano has now taken Lagos,Its the most populous state in Nigeria with a population of over 9 million.check the recent census.

Do endeavour to update most of the information on this page.They are all out dated.for example Kano has population well over 9million but you it is writen 3million.Also in terms of land mass kano is far bigger than lagos but it is reported that Ibadan and Lagos is bigger than Kano.196.200.120.116 18:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

A breakdown of the 2006 census data by LGAs has been published here. Though the figures are contested, I would rather trust the National Population Commission than the World Gazetteer. The NPC gives a population of 365.525 for Kano Municipal (including old Kano City). How many of the surrounding LGAs do we want to add to that? According to Mary Tiffen (Profile Of Demographic Change In The Kano-Maradi Region, 1960−2000, p. 12) municipal Kano is composed of three LGAs: Kano Municipal, Dala (418.777 in the 2006 Census) and Nasarawa (596.669). In addition to that she names (p. 7/8) two more LGAs as 'inner districts': Kumbosto (295.979) and Ungogo (369.657) and nine more as 'central districts': Gaya, Wudil, Dawakin Kudu, Dawakin Tofa, Gabasawa, Kura, Gezawa, Minjibir and Brinin Kudu (Jigawa State).

I've never been to Kano. According to a feature on Kano in the Daily Sun the city has a population of roughly half a million. Ankimai 18:05, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

First of all, to comment on the first comments in this section, why do people still mix up the state of Kano with the city of Kano? It happens so often that I am beginning to be pretty sure that this is the main reason for all the fuss every time about census results in Nigeria. The authorities say "Kano (...state) has more population than Lagos (...state)", the average guy on the street goes "Nooo, I have been to Kano (...city), Lagos (...city) is much bigger, they're lying!!", without considering the difference between the city and state.

Anyway, secondly, City Population and UN Demographic Yearbook 2004, excel-file put the population of Kano city at 2166554 inhabitants at the 1991 census. I am quite sure that this figure is for the continuous urban area, including some complete lga:s and parts of some other lga:s. In 1991, this was 37,29 % of the states total population, which would give about 3,5 million inhabitants if the 2006 census results was calculated by the same rate. So, I think the World Gazetter is just about right, even if this source sometimes isn't the best one as many of their population figures are calculated and not official. --Pjred 11:03, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Has anyone heard of a color used in Nigeria called "Kano green"--a medium/pastel green that is used to color traditional items? Nothing shows up on the Internet for this. Badagnani 05:40, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
