This article is very misleading. It only discusses a small stretch (some 30-50km) of NH209 near Bangalore. NH209 goes all the way upto Coimbatore and passes through some very beautiful forests and an elephant reserve too. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/nh209/ for photos of the highway.
