Kanishka II was one of the emperors of the Kushan empire from around 200-222 CE. He succeeded Vasudeva I who is considered to be the last great Kushan emperor.
In an inscription dated to the "Year 41" (probably of the Kanishka era) and discovered on the borders of the river Ara, he qualifies himself as a Kaisara ("Caesar"), suggesting some awareness of the Roman Empire, and claims he is a descendant of a little-know Kushan ruler named Vashishka.[1]
