From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stoner music is an informal or slang term for music listened to, or perceived to be listened to, by "stoners", or people under the influence of drugs, typically marijuana. The genres of music listened to by stoners can vary quite widely, depending on the listener's drug of choice, personal taste, and mood.

Stoner music may be music that enhances the effects of the drug being used but may also refer to music made by stoner artists with drug related lyrics. Reggae artists like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and hip hop artists like Snoop Dogg and Kottonmouth Kings are often referring to cannabis in their lyrics.

Some listeners consider stoner music to be their 'drug of choice', in fact, some stoners have gone so far as to discontinue use of drugs, preferring their 'music of choice' to drugs. A Prime example would be the Wharf Rats, a subset of deadheads, who gather in groups at Grateful Dead, The Dead, and Phish concerts, as an affinity group to support each other in their sobriety.
