Anjali Pictures-Kalyana Mandapam is a 1971 Telugu Film Starring Shobhan Babu, Kanchana, Jaggiah, Anjali, Gummadi and others. The film is directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao. This is a film dealing with the Devadasi Tradition prevalent in Zamindari Andhra Culture and deals with the dream of a young devadasi girl wanting to get married to her childhood lover. But circumstances push her in to being a Temple Dancer towards the end of the movie culminating in her death. Kanchana plays the role of the Devadasi girl and gives a stunning performance. Viewers empathasise with the character through out. Music is by Adi Narayana Rao and it has some lilting songs.
Renditions by S.P. Balasubramaniam and P. Susheela of Pilichevaruntey palikenu nenu, Saregama padanisa, Chukkalu paade subha manthram are memorable.
