Padma Sri Kallur Subba Rao was born in Kallur near Hindupur Tq Anantapur Dist., his Father’s name is Sri Surappa and Smt.Mother’s Name Puttamma, The great Late Sri Padmasri Kallur Subba Rao was born on 25th of May 1897, he was the first person who started Congress Movement in Rayalaseema, and he studied up to 12th standard, when he was in 17 years he attended a meeting hosted by the great Anibisent and inspired, from that day onwards, he started participating in meetings and started the Freedom Struggle. He was under imprisonment for 7 years, as a Freedom Fighter. After independence he was elected as Member of Parliament from Madras Constituency, he was the only Person from South India, who signed in the Constitution of India which was written by Great Sri B R Ambedkar. After that he was awarded Padmasri in 1964 with the President of India Dr.Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan. He himself a great poet and very good orator, Mr. Rutherford who was the collector of Anantapur Dist., from English people at that time called him as the Lion of Congress, and Dr.Babu Rajendra Prasd use to call him as the Prison Graduate, because Mr.Kallur Subba Rao was a great reader of Bhagavat Geetha ,Ramayana and Bhagavatha.

His political history, he was 4 times elected as Member of Parliament and 3 times as Member of Legislative assembly. He was a Deputy Speaker of Loksabha and APCC general Secretary.He served for Nation until his Last Breath. He died in 1972 December 20th.
