Kal Karman

Kal Karman born in 1974 in san francisco, kal karman has been based in europe since 2000. after a film degree from u.c. berkeley in 1996 and cinematography work in los angeles, kal began the post-production route towards directing: special effects experience at industrial light & magic (”star wars the phantom menace” by george lucas, “magnolia” by paul thomas anderson, "celebrity' by woody allen). kal moved to milan in 2000 with a new concentration in editing. in 2002 he began directing documentaries, music videos and commercials. kal’s time spread from italy to spain in 2007. principal projects include: “hikikomori”, a documentary which tells the story of the ‘missing million’ japanese youth who close themselves off from society. “rear window” a one minute short film commissioned by canal+ spain for oscar night on-air. most recently several commercials for gucci. his 360 degree background in post production continues to infuse itself in recent works, most notably for freixenet’s cordon negro champagne, and l'illa diagonal campaign.
