Kaiwo Maru II

Kaiwo Maru II is a Japanese training tall ship. It was built in 1989 to replace a 1930 ship of the same name.

Its keel was laid by Sumitomo Heavy Industries on July 8th, 1988 and it was launched on March 7th 1989. It was fully completed on September 12, 1989. It is a four masted barque with the length of over 110 meters and a complement of 199 persons.

The Kaiwo Maru is a regular participant in international tall ship gatherings such as Operation Sail and is a multiple winner of the Boston Teapot Trophy.
