Kai (甲斐市 Kai-shi?) is a city located in Yamanashi, Japan.

As of June 30, 2005 the city has an estimated population of 74,241 with a population density of 1032 persons per km². The total area is 71.94 km².

The city was founded on September 1, 2004 from the merger of three towns and villages.
