All throughout history abortion has been in place. Many people, today, might have thought that this was only something that has occurred in the last ten years or so, but that is not true. Abortion dates back to ancient times. It has long effected our world with its evil ways. For the most part the West has frowned upon abortion and this is largely due to Christian influence. Now as I look back on this and compare it with today's culture I have to ask myself what has happened? The Western world, for the most part, has changed drastically towards frowning upon abortion. With teen pregnancy,etc. on the rise it has opened its arms to "taking the easy way out and having an abortion." Who says, though, that this is the easy way out? Could abortion actually be the harder way out? Yes, a thousand times "yes"! Because when the abortion is all over with, what do you have? Yes, you may have gotten rid of the so-called "problem," but you have created another problem. I have talked to girls who have had abortions. They have testified that they wished that they had never had an abortion. One of the girls, with tears in her eyes and trembling lips, told me her story. She said," I dream every night of my baby. I am going down a long, dark hallway and all I hear is babies screaming. One babies cry reaches my ears and I know without a doubt that that baby is my baby. Fear fills my heart and suddenly I feel wetness on my hands. When my eyes drop down I see my hands covered with blood and I know that the blood is not my own, but the blood of my unborn child. I wake up in a cold sweat. My pillow is soaked with my tears and I know, with a heavy heart, that I should have never agreed to having an abortion." But what about a woman who has been raped? Is it alright to have an abortion then? Recent studies have shown that pregnancy due to incest or rape is extremely rare. "There is no getting around the fact that pregnancy does occur in some instances..." But that concept is rare. The unborn child is not an aggressor when its presence does not endanger the life of it's mother ( as in the case of tubal pregnancy). The rapist is the one who is the true aggressor. The unborn baby is just as much a victim as the mother is. Due to this, abortion cannot be justified on the basis that the unborn is an aggressor. Abortion has long been an ethic issue in our world. People have long debated on if this act is right or wrong. Look at the evidence here. Study the statistics and realize that through abortion we are doing away with hundreds, and, even thousands, of innocent lives. I know that many people look at the word fetus and think that that can't possibly be a human life, but if you look at the meaning of this latin word you will find that it means "young one, or young child." ( Another quote often used for fetus is the following quote: "Fetus, in Latin, literally means "filled with young, pregnant, breeding, with young and/or a bringing forth, bearing, hatching, producing)."Let this be the deciding factor for deciding if you believe that abortion is right or wrong.
