The Academical Village People, also known as AVP, are a student-run, all-male a cappella group at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia that was founded in the fall of 1993. Their name is a play on Thomas Jefferson's academic and architectural concept for the founding of the UVA, which he called the "Academical Village".^[1]
