Junyuan primary school history & back ground
junyuan primary school is a government English medium school and was established in 1988.
the school adopted the name from the former Choon Guan Primary School although the school is not affiliated. It functioned in 2 Tampines Street 91 in january 1988 and was offically opened on 2 September 1989 by Mr Yatiman Yusof, the Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC. when the school started, it functioned as a single session school with 20 classes from Primary One to Five only and an enrolment of 620 and a teaching staff of 29. No standard uniform was seen on all it's pupils, everyone is wearing their old school uniform when it started it's first day.
The school has since grown in strength with an enrolment of 1500 pupils and our teaching strength currently stands at 70. With its good academic and non-academic record,it has established itself as one of the top choice
neighbourhood schools in Tampines.
Junyuan Primary School has been selected to undergo PRIME in 2008 and will be operating from its holding school premises at 7 Jalan Tiga Ratus for the next 2 years.
The school will operate as a single session school. The move to the sprawling school compounds ate holding school will provide the school with many
possibilities and opportunities to be a vibrant and gracious learning community where talents blossom.
