Talk:Jumpgate
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I recommend that the Stargate disambig page be merged into the Jumpgate page because they have such overlapping content, as a Jumpgate and a Stargate are essentially the same thing.--Tim4christ17 13:55, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Disagree with merger, but I agree the page needs work, the info about the different gates at the top, such as Cowboy Bebop could be removed and replace with a "For a list of Stargate like teleportation devices, see Jumpgate. The disambig page needs to stay there for items like Project Star Gate and Stargate (video game), but at the moment it is far too wordy for a disambig page.. Fosnez 14:24, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

- I have Edited the Stargate (disambiguation) page to clean it up. Let me know what you think. Fosnez 15:37, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Freelancer gate.jpg
Image:Freelancer gate.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

The X series section is incorrect... human's originally built the whole jumpgate network in the part of the universe explored in the game, but were driven out of it by the Xenon.. but they left the network behind even though they severed the link to Earth. When the races in the game acheived space travel, they found the jumpgate network... built by "ancient beings" (Earth humans) thousands of years ago (It was at least 500 years between Kyle arriving in that part of the universe and the link being severed, so the jumpgates must have been built even longer ago. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.194.77.200 (talk) 01:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] This one Game...
I know this has nothing to do with improving the artical, but it has been bugging me forever. Back in the 90's a game came out that had a jumpgate in it. The plot was, you are a futuristic fighter pilot and you are sent to destroy enemy ships and bases. At then end of each level, you jump through a jumpgate which sends you into the sky and back to your ship. In the game, you pick up power ups, fly through dangerous tunnels and at one point, have to destroy a seemingly invinceable robot. I know the game is not called Descent, because I've played that one. Can someone please tell me what it might be. The game brings back a lot of memories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.247.165.87 (talk) 22:19, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
