Talk:Jumper (computing)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This needs a section on jumper types (ie 2.54mm vs 2.00mm, etc). Myrdred 21:30, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

In all the years I've worked with computer equipment, I have never heard the phrase "strapping" used to describe setting jumpers. I've only heard "jumpering". I am not going to remove the text from the article, but I am asking: does anyone have a cite for this? --Flewellyn 07:55, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jumpers for CPU speed / voltage outdated?

Should the sentence For example, computer CPU speed and voltage settings are often made by setting jumpers. be modified to ...were often made? In my experience this is no longer done, these settings are controlled directly from BIOS. Rob.desbois 20:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I've taken this into account in my most recent edit of the article. Bloodshedder 23:57, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
