[edit] Fair use rationale for Jumpman (logo) article

  1. The image is used in only one article, Jumpman (logo), and is used there to illustrate the subject for the purposes of explanation, identification, critical commentary, and edification of the general public.
  2. The image does not dilute the Nike logo, nor undermine the commercial benefit Nike receives from the logo, nor mislead the viewer into presuming a relationship between Nike and Wikipedia.
  3. The image itself is not a sold or marketed product on its own, and thus does not weaken an extant market for the image.
  4. The nature of the article (commenting on a culturally significant corporate logo, presumed to be copyrighted and/or trademarked) precludes replacing the image with a non-fair use or free alternative.
  5. The image provided here is of resolution too low and of too lossy a format (JPEG) for use in professionally published works. Nevertheless, the image itself is accurate and of acceptable quality such that it does not create a negative or skewed impression in the viewer.
