My name is Dawn Potaracke-Anderson. I had the honor of not only knowing Julie Haydon, but was her close friend for the last 12 years of her life. I first met her when I was 13 years old. She was living with a grade school classmate of mine. I didn't exactly know what to think of Julie at that time, but I found her to be very interesting. My next meeting with her was when she moved into the apartment building my dad was caretaker of. That was in the fall of 1981 when I was a sophomore at Aquinas Highschool in La Crosse, WI. Needless to say, I was thrilled to have a "real life actress" living in my building. I was so starstruck that my schoolwork wasn't exactly on the top of my priority list. Soon after she moved in, the University Of Wisconsin La Crosse had a program in her honor. "An Evening With Julie Haydon", is what it was called, if I am remembering correctly. Again, this is something that happened almost 25 years ago. Later that evening, there was a knock at our apartment door. It was Julie with a bouquet of flowers for me. That was the begining of our friendship. We had the best friendship that anyone could ever hope for. My parents thought that Julie was not a good influence on me. but I am so glad that I didn't listen to them, otherwise I would have never known what a beautiful, sweet soul she really was. Julie shared many stories about her life in Hollywood and in New York City. All the famous people she and George Jean Nathan were friends with. Some day I plan to write a book about our friendship. Nothing to bring out any scandal, but just to tell the story of her life as I knew her. If any one would like to share their story about Julie or George Jean Nathan, my email is dawn66peru@yahoo.com
