Juliusz Kossak

Juliusz Fortunat Kossak (December 15, 1824 - February 3, 1899) was a Polish painter.
Relief of Smolensk by Polish forces, during the Polish-Muscovite War (1605-1618), by Juliusz Kossak. The painting reflects a historical period when Poles could face Russians on equal terms, unlike their subservient position in the painter's own lifetime.
