Julian Edney

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Julian Edney, PhD is an American psychologist, philosopher and university teacher. He has written extensively on the decline of American society as a collaborative and inclusive construct, and on the effects of increasing inequality on the well-being of political and social groups. He was born in Uganda and now lives and teaches in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Edney holds a degree in psychology from the University of California, Riverside and advanced degrees from Yale University[1].

Edney's works have been published in psychology journals[2] and on-line newsletters[3][4] His book Greed is a series of essays which propose that American social order is in danger because of the rise of inequality and a culture of greed and selfishness. He deplores this state of affairs and explores the philosophical and economic processes that he says have contributed to such conditions as now exist, based largely on current life in the United States of America.

Dr. Edney is a critic of the philosophy and works of Ayn Rand[5]. He argues that the corrosive effects of her ideas persist long after her death in the political and moral failures of today's society.
