Historically it is the academicians who uphold freedom and democracy, keeping a questioning eye on governments. It is against the spirit of the free thinking academia to jump on the political hype of the time. And it is very sad that Ms. Genshaft has done exactly that by firing Dr. Sami Al-Arian even before his trial began. He was presumed guilty even before the trial! The message that she and others like Lee Bollinger sends to the world totally undermines their respectability. Wikitagore (talk) 06:27, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
