[edit] Context
Evolution of Dance is the finale to Laipply's show called "Inspirational Comedy".[2] His website describes the show as "combining his thoughts about life and change with humor".[3] In 2002, he began closing many of his college, high school and corporate appearances with his unusual dance medley. It soon became a "crowd favorite".[4]
In the video, Laipply dances to a soundtrack that plays through various popular songs ranging from Elvis Presley to MC Hammer and Michael Jackson. During its initial rise in popularity, it amassed over 10 million views in under two weeks and was featured on CNN, MSN, E!, USA Today, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and AOL.[citation needed] As of June 2008, the number of views on YouTube.com stands at 88,293,557 views,[5] and is the most viewed video on the site. Judson tells the story behind the creation of the Evolution of Dance in a video interview available on staytunedtv, [1]. A recent revision of the dance is three minutes longer including songs such as "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira, but no public video of it currently exists.[citation needed] Laipply is currently working on "Evolution of Dance 2"[6].
