Jovan Roms

'Jovan (born 1981) is a Finnish pop singer, who began his career as a child singer and recently made a comeback with electronic pop music.

His first "hit" was "Ankkalinnan lambada", recorded for a local countryside radio station, when Jovan, which back then was known by his Finnish nickname Juha, was only 7 years old. As a child Jovan participated in various contests and even organized some at school by himself. At 1993 he was the audience's favorite in "SongBird (Laululintu)" contest in Finland. Right after that he participated in one of the most famous programs in Finnish TV history, Tenavatähti, with a song he composed himself - "Rakkauden väriloisto". He made his way to the grand final of the contest, and spent the following years touring around Finland. In 1994-1997 he was also playing lead roles in several musical productions, such as The Sound of Music (Friedrich) and Pippi Longstocking (Tommy), etc. In 1996 Jovan had a few TV appearances promoting his single "Emptiness/Cold rain".

After having lived in Mexico, Spain and Lithuania, and having composed numerous demos and successful hits for other artists, Jovan returned to Finland in 2006 with a new musical style: clubby electronica. The first singles from the album "Several simple truths", "Potion" and "Silent Cry" did well, and the album has been published both in Lithuania and Finland. It will be available during 2008 as an electronic album for the European and US markets. Currently Jovan is working on a Spanish album, containing both new songs and new Spanish versions of some songs of "Several simple truths". The style of the album is expected to be less dance and more electronica. The first single, "Mascaradas", will be released in January 2008 with a heavy promotion.

++: there are two different editions. The Finnish edition has 12 songs, plus If you leave Finnish version. The Lithuanian edition has 12 songs, plus Several simple truths and Potion Lithuanian versions. ++: the promo edition lacks "For the last time" and includes only rough mixes of the songs. "If you leave" is only included in Finnish whilst recordings for the English version hadn't been completed.
