You ran the risk of the article Joshua Swanson being deleted by not following the instuctions above. Articles tagged for speedy deletion are often removed within a few minutes, and the articlr you started with had so little content that it would have been removed. If you had added the hangon tag with an explanation, it would have given you breathing space to expand. I happened to notice you had added enought to prove the person was notable, so I removed the delete tag. When you create new articles it's always best to start with enough info to defer deletion. At this time of night a lot of nonsense gets posted, and I can easily tag a new articel for deletion a couple of times a minute.
