I've edited this page so it reads better, I hope. However, there were two contradictory sentences:

He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel.
He retired at the rank of major at the end of the war.

Both can't be right. I've deleted both. If anyone can get an accurate answer, please add it in. Emeraude 16:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Add to references Stephen Ambrose, "Citizen Soldiers" which includes a detailed accoun of Captain Dawson's heroism at Aachen. This comment was added to the article by an IP, so I moved it here. Nikkimaria 23:12, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
