Joseph Pannell Taylor (4 May 1796 – 29 June 1864) was a Union general in the American Civil War.
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Richard Taylor and Sarah Dabney Strother. He married Evelyn A. McLean (1811-?) from Ohio, daughter of John McLean, a justice of the Ohio and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He was the brother of US president Zachary Taylor, whose son, Richard Taylor, was a Civil War Confederate general.
