This article provides information about the Joseon Navy during the Japanese invasions of Korea in 1592.

[edit] Maritime defence during the Japanese invasions
In 1592, the responsibility for the maritime defence was shared between four Commanders who covered the two Joseon's southern provinces corresponding to the actual Gyeongsang and Jeolla. From the west to the east there were:
- The Commander of Western Jeolla Fleet (Hangul: 전라우도수군절도사, Hanja: 全羅右道水軍節度使), who was Yi Eok Ki, was based on the southwestern part of Jeolla province.
- The Commander of Eastern Jeolla Fleet (Hangul: 전라좌도수군절도사, Hanja: 全羅左道水軍節度使), who was Yi Sun-sin, was based at Yeosu, a city in southeastern Jeolla province.
- The Commander of Western Gyeongsang Fleet (Hangul: 경상우도수군절도사, Hanja: 慶尙右道水軍節度使), who was Won Kyun, whose base lay on the western shores of Geoje Island.
- The Commander of Eastern Gyeongsang Fleet (Hangul: 경상좌도수군절도사, Hanja: 慶尙左道水軍節度使), who was Park Hong, was stationed on an island near to Busan harbour.

- Western Jeolla Fleet consisted of 30 warships with 5000 men
- Eastern Jeolla Fleet consisted of 25 warships with 4000 men
- Western Gyeongsang Fleet consisted of 75 warships with 12000 men
- Eastern Gyeongsang Fleet also consisted of 75 warships with 12000 men
