Jos Engelen (born 1950, Maasniel) is a Dutch physicist.
Professor Engelen obtained his PhD in 1979 with Professor Wolfram Kittel at the Catholic University of Nijmegen (now known as the Radboud University Nijmegen). He was appointed professor of Experimental High-Energy Particle Physics at the University of Amsterdam in 1987. Between 2001 and 2003 he was director of NIKHEF (National Institute for Nuclear and High Energy Physics, based in Amsterdam). In January 2004 he became Chief Scientific Officer (on leave from NIKHEF) of CERN, Geneva.
