José López Portillo y Rojas

José López Portillo y Rojas (26 May 185022 May 1923), Mexican lawyer, politician and man-of-letters, was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Governor of Jalisco in 1911. Secretary of Foreign Affairs in 1914, during the U.S. occupation of Veracruz. Director of the Mexican Academy of Language 1916-1923.

His grandson José López Portillo y Pacheco was president of Mexico in 1976-1982.
