José Couceiro

José Júlio de Carvalho Peyroteo Martins Couceiro, known simply as José Couceiro (born 4 October 1962 in Lisbon, Portugal) is a football manager, that despite his young age already served as president for the SJPF (Portuguese Football Players' Union) and manager in the Sporting Public company. He is a known fan of the Lisbon side, and related to club legend and member of The Five Violins Fernando Peyroteo.
As a manager, Couceiro's career is short, and marked with the relegation of FC Alverca in 2003-04. He bounced back with a good run with Vitória de Setúbal, and was signed by FC Porto as a replacement to Víctor Fernandez in 1 February 2005. Not long after his arrival, in 22 May he presented his demission after losing the championship to Benfica, and was replaced by Dutch manager Co Adriaanse. He managed Belenenses of Lisbon during 2005/2006 season, which ended in relegation for Belenenses.. He was made August 2006 manager of Portugal national under-21 football team and Portugal national under-20 football team but was sacked after poor results.
Fernando Peyroteo, former football player, is Couceiro's grand-uncle. António César de Vasconcelos Correia, 1st Viscount and 1st Count de Torres Novas and 93rd Governor of India, was his great-great-great-uncle. Augusto de Vasconcelos was his second cousin three times removed.
His father, an engineer also named José Martins Couceiro, born in Angola in 1928 and deceased on September 30, 2005, was the first chairman of the former Clube Académico de Coimbra in 1974, a club which is current day Académica de Coimbra O.A.F..
Married to Clara, he is the father of three daughters, Catarina (b. 1991), Sofia (b. 1994) and Beatriz (b. 1996).
