Jorge Orosmán da Silva Echeverrito (born December 11, 1961 in Montevideo) is a former football striker from Uruguay, who was nicknamed "Polilla" during his professional career.

[edit] Club career
Jorge da Silva made his debut in 1977 for C.A. Fenix, ha had a short spell with Danubio before joining Defensor Sporting in 1978.
In 1982 he moved to Spain where he played for Real Valladolid where he won the Pichichi as the top scorer in La Liga 1983-84. Only the second Valladolid player ever to win the award.
Da Silva then had a spell with Atlético Madrid where he was part of the squad that won the Supercopa de España in 1985.
In 1987 da Silva returned to South America where he signed for River Plate of Argentina where he scored 23 goals in 58 appearances.
In 1989 he joined Chilean club Palestino and in 1991 he moved to Colombia to play for América de Cali where he won the Colombian League in 1992.
Towards the end of his career he had a spell with Millonarios before returning to Uruguay to play out his career with Defensor Sporting.

Having made his official debut on February 20, 1982 against South Korea (2-2), Da Silva obtained a total number of 26 international caps for the Uruguay national football team. He represented his native country at the 1986 FIFA World Cup, wearing the number nine jersey.

He is currently working as the manager of Defensor Sporting in Uruguay.
