[edit] Tasha, The Believers and Mumma Rose

Jonah was first introduced as the son of Mumma Rose, leader of the cult, the Believers, that brainwashed Tasha. Mumma Rose believed Tasha was the chosen one and destined to get pregnant to her son. Jonah went along with Mumma Rose's plans, and even kidnapped Martha to keep her from telling Tasha the cult's secrets. One night Tasha was drugged, and it was believed Jonah raped her. In the end, he realised he was wrong, rebelled against his mother, and helped Tasha escape the cult. Jonah was sent to jail for kidnapping Martha, and later, Tasha realised she was pregnant. Realising she hadn't been with anyone, everyone assumed Jonah had raped her and was the father of her baby girl, Ella.

[edit] Michael, Martha and The Campbells

In September 2007 Jonah returned to Summer Bay with the new name of Michael. It was revealed that Mumma Rose had adopted him when he was 5 and his birth name was Michael. Mumma Rose had drugged him and brainwashed him all his childhood and he was rehabilitated in prison. He also discovered in jail that he was sterile and could not have fathered Tasha's daughter Ella — therefore he didn't rape her, as he had no memory of that night because he was drugged, too. He returned to Summer Bay to sell Mumma Rose's farm and clear his name, however it was not easy for him. Martha and Irene would not listen to him and tried to run him out of town.

He got a job as a farmhand on Bruce's farm and one day he caught Martha spray painting his van. He chased her, trying to get her to stop and talk to him, but they fell into an abandoned mine shaft, and were forced to spend the night there. When they were rescued it was clear they had developed a connection. Martha was in denial of her feelings and went on a date with Summer Bay newcomer, Lewis Rigg, but Michael eventually got her to admit to her feelings, and they shared a romantic kiss on the farm and slept together.

Their relationship was revealed by Geoff Campbell after his sister Annie told him she caught them together in the barn. Their relationship was not accepted at first, but Michael eventually proved that he had changed. He fell in love with Martha and was very patient and gentle with her, especially as she was still trying to work out her feelings for Jack. This week Martha asks Michael to leave Summer Bay with her, although Martha MacKenzie "literally" chewed out at him for violently punching Jack Holden in the mouth.
