Jon Balcourt

Jon Balcourt is an American-born composer, orchestrator, pianist, vocal coach, and conductor.

Balcourt, a Syracuse native, has completed a Bachelor's degree in Music Education at the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University. He will be attending New York University's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program next year to graduate in 2010. His first musical, Untitled the musical debuted in Syracuse, NY in March of 2006. During the summer of 2007, he co-wrote the lyrics and wrote the music to the off-Broadway musical Idol: The Musical that played at the 45th Street Theatre throughout July and August. He recently wrote music and lyrics to a song-cycle that premiered at Jazz Central, titled: Twist of Love. The music for this will be released both in sheet music form and on a newly released CD as of May 2008 (available on his website).
Balcourt is currently working on a musical adaption of Michael Ende's classic novel, The Neverending Story. A workshop for this show is planned over the next two years.
