JOI writes all her music and does her vocals solely. She has been producing too under guidance some great mentors. Joi believes in versatility so she makes effortless switches from rapping to chanting/toasting (dancehall reggae) and singing- This rapper/toaster/singer enjoys expressing herself and letting others relate, so she raps about real experience- things we all go through (life, pain, love, joy & more); She strives to motivate and firmly believes in making that connection.

Joi is from ZIMBABWE(yeah she knows her roots)! Though African bred, Joi relocated to America in 2000, and has been making moves as far as recording music and performing out here offically since 2002. She started making music 'back home' since she was 15 yrs old as far as writing rhymes, rapping and chanting- Inspired by her now late parents, she learnt to play the piano from when she was as young as 6, and played the church organ as a teen in Zimbabwe... One can definitely conclude that this artist fell in love with music early.

Joi's performances include Philadephia (Club Samba, Club Flow, Tragos, Club Beyond, Sweet Magnolia) Upper Darby (69th Street Lounge)- Delaware (East End Cafe, Stoneys), New York (Madison Square Garden), Baltimore (Courtesy of Spitters' Club), and a many other "on the spot" open mics... Joi also graduated with a Management Information Systems (MIS)degree in 2004 and strives to apply even the business knowledge into her music career both in theory and practice.
