Hi, I've moved/altered/removed your recent Dune edits regarding the Arabic language; please see Talk:List of Dune terminology#Arabic and Talk:Feyd-Rautha#OR for the reasoning. I have no doubt that your translations are correct, and that Herbert may even have intended these meanings to apply, but it is a fictional universe and so we cannot make such assumptions without sources. This has been an ongoing issue with Dune articles because the Arabic influence in Herbert's work is well-known.

You note above that you are an Arabic scholar, so again, I (and the editor above) don't doubt the veracity of your Arabic knowledge. However, I encourage you to read about the exact nature of original research on Wikipedia. Thanks. TAnthony 23:50, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Noting the similarities between Herbert's terms and modern Arabic is not OR. What if an Arabic-English dictionary was cited?

Thank you very much for this affirmation! I'd considered citing Hans Wehr's well-known Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic, which is what I used, of course. All serious students of Arabic in America use it. Johanna-Hypatia 02:51, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
