I'm a physicist. Ph.D., 1991, University Wisconsin-Madison, major physics, minor mathematics.
I reside in Champaign, Illinois, USA. I lived for two years in Europe, where I traveled and learned to speak German. I've been to Spain, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Canada, and Mexico.
I get news via podcast from Deutsch Welle, On Point Radio, Diane Rehm, Science Friday, and Bob McChesney, among others. I'm reading "Fooled Again" by Mark Crispin Miller and "What Evolution Is" by Ernst Mayr. I just read "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan, and I heartily recommend it. I want to read "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins.
Science is a way of trying not to fool yourself. The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool. Feynman, from a lecture given in 1964 in Italy.
