[edit] FACT OR THEORY?

Those members of the Wiki community editing the John Twelve Hawks entry should take a look at the "history" page of previous edits. For several years, this entry has showed a continual tension between known facts and speculative theories regarding this author. Wiki edits should distinguish between these two categories and I feel that this entry currently does a good job of making the distinction. At some point, this entry may be flagged for continual monitoring by the Wiki community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AshlandOR1 (talk • contribs) 15:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

john twelve hawks

sorry, as a former public school pupil, i´m not perfect in english language and writing. Just reading the book traveller, autor is "john twelve hawks", an artists name or a feeled name, or the genuine? sound like an indian name. I´ve a lot of questions to the autor and i would very enjoyed to get a contact to john twelve hawks. There are so many open theories and cognitions in a new mix, only an outstanding and critical mind seems able to find theese kind of correlations between history and future, means science fictions. For example: he writes in a sentence: our brain is the location of god. Prentice mulford, 130 years ago wrote the same: the god in us... There are so many questions of personally kind, if it´s able, i would like to get a contact to the autor. Perhaps anyone has the possibillity to bring us in contact. Best place to keep your eye on is this discussion board [1] , although I have a feeling they are going to be awfully upset if they find out it really is JTH's first novel.--Mirjay 22:08, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

What does it matter if the book is based of facts? Or if there were publicity stunts? If any book gives us pause and inspires us to think about the world we live in, then it has been a catalyst is change for the better. There are some disturbing facts that are included in this book: There are surveilance systems, both internet and otherwise being used to observe private citizens all over the world. There are coroporations already requiring "micro chips", and it is proposed that in the Us, military personnel be required to have "micro chips". The government is using "scare tactics and fear" to intimidae the public into giving up their freedom and privacy for security". This does not even include the economic battle that private citizens are losing to Big Corporations in which the working people are seeing their standard of living lowered day by day to support the big profits of Corporate Executives. Eventually we will be nothing more than indentured slaves. This book gives us hope, give us the chance to question our future.''

Bold text==Publicity stunt?==

According to the New York Times, Doubleday spent about a million dollars to market the trilogy of which The Traveler is the first book. (NYT Aug. 12, 2006, p. A20).

There should be some discussion of the Harlequins. "Harlequins" are a type of Fallen Angel character in an old LARP (Live-Action Roleplaying Game), called "Shades of Divinity." Any influence in the term here from that

I think the whole thing has been spun by some clever publishing company and that their is little doubt that JTH is in fact a well known author.

Yeah. I keep thinking that someone, someday, is going to discover that Twelve Hawks's real name is "Grisham" or "Meltzer". . . . --Michael K. Smith 16:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

He's probably a Pseudonym of one of the authors on doubleday, that way it would have been easier to get it published--Nk70 18:10, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Plagiarism?

Parts of this article seem to be unattributed lifts from a USA Today feature here: http://www.usatoday.com/life/books/news/2005-06-27-traveler_x.htm

[edit] JTH tells a bit about his childhood

On John Twelve Hawks' site at [2] , if you click "Realm Six" in the top right corner, there is then a blackboard that you can click (his message board). His most recent post (as of this edit) is "The Mirror", dated January 23, 2008, and it details some of his childhood. If anyone wants to expand the article, this might be the place to look. 134.173.51.133 (talk) 18:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Terrible references

Postings on newsgroups or forums, and comments on minor blogs, do not constitute reliable references. This is an encyclopedia. If you cannot find a verifiable reference for these fantasies, then they don't belong here. —johndburger 03:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
