[edit] References/notability

The anonymous user who created this article promised sources about one year ago, but has not delivered. I have not found Col. John Thornton mentioned in any reference books on this battle, such as Draper's King's Mountain and Its Heroes. (Google Book Search) While I don't doubt that Col. John Thornton existed (there was an officer from Virginia by that name), the important claims made for him in this article need to be cited with reliable published sources (and not genealogical research). Otherwise this article will probably be deleted in the near future. Thanks! —Kevin Myers 23:05, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
