This man was a genius and his methods should be employed in every country to maximise sustainability and the health of the population. Just go out and get his last book The Self-Sufficient Life and How to Live It, and look at the various ideas he developed from a lifetime of experience. It is like a combination of all of the best independent farming methods. If these methods were employed in many third world countries, starvation could be halved, or better. The land could be used to its maximum. The main enemies of this being employed are those he called correctly 'the merchants of greed'. Third World countries are being exploited by corporations instead of being used to the advantage of their own populations. Matthew A.J.י.B. 13:38, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

John Seymour's fictional acount of a world political and economic crisis, 'Retrieved from the Future', is as entertaining a read as you will find as well as examining serious ecological and sustainability issues. The book manages to teach some extremely valuable lessons. I urge you to read it. Teleplayer 10:39, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
