Not sure how to deal with John's son, John. It would be a lot easier if they had different names, but I'm pretty sure we don't need separate pages for them. I wish I had a copy of Duby handy... Lordjim13 02:04, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

On the Earl Marshal page it lists Richard de Clare as the Lord Marshal prior to John (the Younger), whereas from what I recall John (Snr.) was Marshal (hence the name) and won the honor as a heriditary title. I don't have the resources to research it right now... Lordjim13 00:33, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox problem

the infobox for the Lord Marshal says the incumbent held the position until 1199; neither John Marshal mentioned lives that long; any way to clear up the discrepancy by checking primary or secondary sources? --FeanorStar7 16:27, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
