Page name

Wikipedia:Disambiguation states, "When the primary meaning for a term or phrase is well-known (indicated by a majority of links in existing articles), then use that topic for the title of the main article, with a disambiguation link at the top". There is no article on a theologian named John Layfield, and Google searches for topics such as '"John Layfield" theology' return few germane results. I do not therefore see a need to move the article about the wrestler; the theologian in question may well deserve an article, but appears to be considerably less well known than the wrestler. There is no need to turn John Layfield into a disambiguation page at this time. McPhail 17:46, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

mess

i'm gonna clean up the last paragraph in the 2006 section, as it is written with alot of broken english that is difficult to understand.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&wpDestFile=THEAPA.jpg appears as red, the photo does not exist on the page 14:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Birthdate

Can someone find out whay is his real birthday? The date is correct, however the year is not. On the page, one in the infobox says 1966 and on the top it says 1967. SFrank85 03:16, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind, I fixed it. SFrank85 03:18, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

i know i'm puting this in the right section, but i just want to knwo if anyone knows if JBL is a grand slam chmapion?? (WWE championship, European championship, World tag team championship, and untied states championship)

JBL said in promo during a 2004 episode of SmackDown! "at 37 years old I have done it all." Since this was took place before 29 November that year, that means he was born in 1966.

Redundancy?

Is there any particular reason why information in this article is restated at least twice in other sections? For instance the whole football mention at Abilene is in the main paragraph and then is later repeated more or less later on in the article. It just seems extraneous and unnecessary to do that. 65.145.212.91 05:00, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

JBL isn't that tall. 6,7? Yeah right.

I reckon he is more like 6'4". 6'5" tops

JBL is 6'6". WWE homepage says that, plus ive seen JBL in real life, and he's about that size

Whoever revealed what happens at the SmackDown tapings, thanks a lot. You just ruined the entire show. And why? That was inconsiderate and rude.--Killswitch Engage 03:32, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Killswitch Engage Ki

JBL is retired now isn't he? He got fired.

Just because he got fired it doesn't mean he's retired. I think he has another run in him, and the rumors state he will challenge for the WWE title on RAW. (.(Undertakerlives)

Beat the Undertaker

He did not say he couldn't beat the Undertaker he said he couldn't keep the Undertaker down.

JBL is a Grand Slam Champ!

I had some discussion over on the Grand Slam champions board. JBL has held the A world title, and second tier title, a tag team title, and a title that is not in circulation. Mater of fact, he had 2 of them. dosnt that make him a grand slam champ?

He needs the intercontinental title to be a grand slam champion. --Fr3nZi3 16:19, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

JBL has now been credited with a Grand Slam. He called himself a Grand Slam winner (while comparing himself to Tiger Woods) as he was putting over King Booker during his match with The Undertaker.

  • He's had a third-tier title (European), a second-tier title (United States), world tag team, and world heavyweight titles.
  • That makes him as Grand Slammy as you can get. VelvetKevorkian 13:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Actually,if you read it properly, the U.S Title has not been recognised as a requirement for Triple Crown status. Nor by the WWE or PWI.-Unsigned,CBA signing in.

2006/Color Commentator

Should color commentator be under 2006, or in it's own category? I see it's been moved under 2006, but I dont know whether to move it back into its own area, or leave as is. Thoughts? AWBricker

Controversy flaw

JBL using racial slurs isn't actually controversial. It's part of his gimmick. It shouldn't be part of the controversy section. 202.69.183.99 10:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

  • JBL's racial slurs as part of his gimmick are controversial. Just because they're scripted does not make them non-controversal. Further, JBL's comments are controversal just as the Cryme Tyme gimick has been controversial, too.
  • The controversial section needs some cleaning up. Where's the objectivity? Most of it assumes him as racist by making no dissemination between his personal beliefs, and his gimmick. AJFederation 05:35, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

JBL face turn?

Ever since JBL became color commentator of SmackDown!, he starts to act face by saying "Oh no" or anything like that when some people, like Matt Hardy, get in trouble. Should we add the face turn or keep the heel turn or just let this slide?

no becuase he interferead in a mathc recently and still roots for " king booker" and "the little bastard" when they are used in storylines, and they are both heelsThenewjackblackk 21:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Why would you consider his color commentary a face? He reminds me of Jerry Lawler when he was a heel in the 90s, only louder and more annoying especially during Vito's matches. It gets irritating after awhile. And how many more times are we going to have to here about his mother watching Smackdown. 65.31.99.71 08:55, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Add-Ons

I changed JBl's height to 6 foot 6 inches, which is his actull height. I also got rid of the retiried part, and chaged retired to inactive, as he has talked about returning to the ring. He is not confirmed as retired

no one really knows if he is retired or if he is nurseing his back right? Thenewjackblackk 21:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, he IS retired. VelvetKevorkian 13:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
  • JBL has stated in interviews and on Around the Ring that he is retired and is comfortable as an Announcer. MrTravis

Personal Life

This entire section was deleted by 150.252.72.6 and no reason was given as to why. Looking over the users talk page, it seems that him being useless to wikipedia is par for the course. The Real Stucco 19:03, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

A Return Match

During the recent WWE European Tour, JBL took part in a match teaming with King Booker & Mr. Kennedy against The Brothers of Destruction & Batista, in Dubin, Ireland on Nov. 13th. It may be worth mentioning http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/results/liveevent/2006.html
