Is the E pronounced, or is it one syllable? I know he has a saxophone instruction video out where he presumably introduces himself. --Scottandrewhutchins 20:09, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- The "e" is not pronounced. His last name rhymes with "Carl".PSchlesinger 04:15, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] speedy deletion
This pagfe has been modifed by me and others, and should not be speedy deleted. The offending passages could be altered or removed without deleting the entry. --Scottandrewhutchins 14:33, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- "The offending passages" is pretty much the entire biography section. I agree that John Harle deserves a page here, but I don't think it should be copied text, even with minor modifications. Maybe delete that section and replace it with a quick bio...then work on expanding it later? --Onorem 14:46, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

- Isn't removing the biography section a little harsh? Even if much of the material came from Mr. Harle's own website, wouldn't the preferable course of action be to contact him and seek his permission to use the copyrighted material? I understand that some believe that a Wikipedia article should rarely use material from another site but the fact remains that much of the material is from other websites and, as long as it is accurate, that makes Wikipedia very useful. I don't want to cite particular pages because I'd hate to see similar "speedy deletions" occur but I think one would find many similarities between the Wikipedia articles on certain music schools and their own web pages.
Using completely original text on Wikipedia is an admirable goal but, let's not kid ourselves, the zealous deletions make the site less useful than it could be.--PSchlesinger 23:14, 5 February 2007 (UTC)- No. It's not a little harsh. It was a copyright violation and was correctly removed. If someone then wanted to ask Mr. Harle to release the information under the GFDL, they could replace the text at that time.
