[edit] Years in legislature

I'm not entirely certain he was elected in 1849, or whether he took the seat slightly later; state legislative records (Legislative Sourcebook: The California Legislature and Reapportionment 1849-1965, by Don A. Allen, Sr.) indicate that William B. Dickinson was among the nine members from Sacramento in 1849 (they first met in December), but that he didn't necessarily serve into 1850. It appears that Bigler took over his seat. The Assembly had 36 members until 1852; these were initially divided into 10 un-numbered geographical districts before 15 numbered districts were created in 1851, increased to 22 in 1852 (with 63 members) and 28 in 1962. There have been 80 members since 1854. MisfitToys (talk) 00:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
