[edit] Lincoln "death photo"
I've come from Abraham Lincoln, where for the past year or so Cathytreks has been waging a war against all reason to have her "Lincoln death photo" instated as fact, despite overwhelming evidence that it is not what she claims it is. At best, she is misguided; at worst, she is maliciously distorting the truth. When she failed to have her agenda accepted there, it seems she came here. While her interest in Mr. Bachelder is admirable and her editions here appreciated, I would call into question her good faith, and closely scrutinize her information. I see no reason why she should just make stuff up about John B. Bachelder, but then again, she seems to be making stuff up about this purported photograph. It was decided in Lincoln that references to said photograph had no place there, and they have no place here, either. They simply have no basis in verifiable fact. --LonelyPilgrim 19:35, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

What you say here regarding my insistance on the truth being revealed is a lie against the very truth of the matter I and many others seek to have shown to the world, sir or madame.
That is a non NPOV look at what my work here has been about! and what you are saying here regarding my insistance on the truth is a lie against the truth of my words and long research regarding this matter, sir, or madame.
Fore~ This is not a "one person/insane war of mine" (as some uneducated ones here would try to make my efforts out to be) but instead this effort of mine has always been to reveal the truth about the Bachelder Photograph, and both the genuine and wrongly overlooked nature of it by the unwiilling, and or "thick of skulled" and those who would make a lie of its legitimate nature in spite of many mistatements of the facts sourounding it and its history, sir, or madame.
I suggest ANYONE who wants to see the facts of its genuineness refer to the Ostendorf, Lloyd, Lincoln's Photographs: A Complete Album, Morningside Books, 1998, ISBN 0-89029-087-3. for the complete story, there was a 2004 edition too by the way, I own that copy myself and it is available through "Morningside Books on the web and at quality historicaly oriented bookstores nationwide, We are all seeking the truth and this is simply another piece of the jigsaw-puzzle of the life and death of a great american , Abraham Lincoln....I thank those of you with an open mind to new facts and the courage to look before you condemn me a encyclopedic reporter of a major find wrongly overlooked and , personal attacks made upon me for daring to report on this historical and important find.
(All of this writing here of mine is done in good faith, and with the strict intent of a NPOV edit.)
Let those who are without fear look for themselves, and I dare say that "Lonely Pilgrim", is not following NPOV Wiki procedure, by taking a totaly predudical and biased view of which they have not even bother to investigate themselves in detail, as I have, and in depth as I have by pouring over the materials available on the Lincoln photograph in question, as the respected life~long Lincoln historian, Lloyd Ostendorf himself did, and his finds, and that of the Bachelder family and their photos they engraved themselves with their own writing, saying it "was John Bachelder himself who took that post mortuem photograph of Lincoln as a study for a later painting", cannot be denied as the facts that they are both historicaly, and in and of it's encyclopedic nature.
In summation I would refer anyone seeking the truth of the matter once more to: Ostendorf, Lloyd, Lincoln's Photographs: A Complete Album, Morningside Books, 1998, ISBN 0-89029-087-3
Thank you for your attention to this very important matter. (Cathytreks 18:26, 18 March 2006 (UTC))
A lengthy discussion of this issue has taken place in Talk:Abraham Lincoln and a straw poll unanimously agreed that the origin of this photograph (the description of which has since been modified to be an engraving) has not been corroborated by Lincoln historians and references to it were to be removed from the Lincoln and Bachelder articles. Cathytreks, you really need to give this a rest. Wikipedia requires reputable research, or else it's called "original research" and that's not allowed. Stating that you believe a certain person is reputable as a source is insufficient to meet this test. If you can find Lincoln scholars who cite this work you claim you've seen, post details on this Talk page. And don't expect any of us to drive to New Hampshire to verify your claims. She's since moved her campaign to Commons. Sigh. Rklawton 06:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
