From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johnny Wood is a popular news anchor who works for WCYB-TV 5 in Bristol, Virginia. Wood anchors the news, weather, and sports for Newscenter 5 Today, one of the highest rated local morning newscasts in America.[1] This program is unique in the fact that only one anchor does the entire show. He also anchors weather for WCYB's Newscenter 5 at Noon program. He has been on the air at WCYB since 1968.

Wood is well-known for his laid-back style and frequent use of colorful phrases and expressions in his broadcasts. He is also an avid fisherman, hosting a weekly fishing report and a popular "Lunch with Johnny" segment in which he tours area restaurants of southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee.
