Johnny Jet

Johnny Jet is a US-based travel expert and the Editor in Chief of JohnnyJet.com. He has appeared in many magazines and newspapers, including The LA Times, Outside Magazine and Frommer's, and has made numerous television appearances including CNN[1] and ABC News.

Born May 31, 1969 (on his grandfather Einar Hansen's birthday), John Einar DiScala, is the fourth offspring of Attorney Francis J. DiScala and Jeanne Hansen, both of Norwalk Connecticut. He attended public schools, until college when he attended Marymount College in Palos Verdes, California. While attending college he became a star athlete excelling in Lacrosse. He was also the student body president. After graduating from Marymount, he completed his college education at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles California where he again excelled in Lacrosse and achieved numerous accolades including MVP of the Allstar team.

After graduation from Loyola he returned to Marymount employed as a college recruiter. It was here that he learned to overcome his extreme fear of air travel since his employment duties required that he attend meetings at high schools located across the USA and Europe. It was also during his employment at Marymount that he met Kevin OConnor, a fellow employee and recruitment counsellor. Kevin OConnor assisted Johnny is posting his travel tips and safety suggestions to a website entitled Johnnyjet.com. This web site was meant as a resource for his friends and fellow recruiters. It was unbiased and informative, sold nothing and promoted nothing. Johnny simply posted his own observations and ideas, mentioning and catagorizing honest internet and travel related resources. His site was visited only by friends and colleagues until discovered by Laura Bly, writing at the time for USA Today, when she brought it global attention through her article published on the front page of the Life Section of USA today -Johnnyjet.Com in it's headline. On that day Johnnyjet's small sever strained under 100,000 unique visitors.

The year was 1999, the official launch date of JohnnyJet.com, an online travel portal designed to provide users with a one-stop online resource for everything travel-related.[2] He is a regularly featured guest on Peter Greenberg's radio show, Peter Greenberg Worldwide.[3]

Each week, JohnnyJet.com publishes a very detailed newsletter that chronicles the travel escapades of John DiScala. Visitors to JohnnyJet.com are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter.

In March 2003, Johnny Jet published You Are Here Traveling With JohnnyJet.com,[4] a resource of online travel tips and websites.[5] He is a regular speaker at the LA Times Travel & Adventure Show.[6] [7]
