John D. Tran is part of the board of directors of the Vietnamese American National Gala "VANG" and serves as its current 2009 executive director. VANG is a national non-profit organization that highlights the top Vietnamese American individuals in the nation in the such industries as business, entertainment, politics, medicine, law, and technology. Biennially, VANG holds its Oscar-like VANG Golden Torch awards which is the nation's most prestigious and celebrated Vietnamese American awards show.

John D. Tran is also a practicing intellectual property attorney and founding partner to a successful intellectual property and business law firm, Buus, Kim, Kuo & Tran, LLP or commonly known as BKKT, with offices in Newport Beach and Los Angeles California. ^[1]
